Renowned music director Vidyasagar launched on November 1, 2011 a devotional music album, ‘Ayyan Malai Engal Malai’, written, composed and produced by EdServ CEO Manachanallur S. Giridharan, and the first copy of the CD was received by Carnatic musician P Unnikrishnan who has sung seven of the 10 songs in the album.
Giridharan’s album praises Lord Ayyappa in a traditional light classical devotional genre deploying suitable raga for each song. The album also has the first song dedicated to Lord Vinayaka and ends in ‘Harivarasanam’. Giridharan has sung two of the songs in the album.
Songs in the album include ‘Mahishimardhanane’, ‘Maamanikanda’, ‘Malaivazh Arase’, ‘Malayalam Kudigonda’, ‘Yezhai Pangala’ and ‘Kanaga Enaikkatharulvai’.
Accompanists in the album include Rajesh Vaidhya on the veena, Padayappa Sriram on the flute, Ilangovan on the keyboard, Murali on the tabla, Arjun on the sitar and Mambalam Siva on the nadaswaram. Vijay has handled the computer rhythm.
Giridharan said, “This is a spiritual commitment from me. I have been a musician for the last two decades but have not been active due to my corporate work. Over the last eight years, I have been a regular to Sabarimala. During my trip last year, I was asked to do an album on Lord Ayyappa by the head priest of a temple in Alappuzha and this is the outcome of that.”
The music CD will be available across all leading music outlets in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. For details, contact: 98400 12534
