A book fair was inaugurated, for the first time, as part of library activity at M O P Vaishnav College for Women, Nungambakkam, recently by renowned poetess Andal Priyadarshini. During her speech, she highlighted the importance of books during the students’ formative life and stressed that they read books voraciously to enrich their knowledge.
She exhorted them to access books as frequently as they can in order to shape their career. Andal focused on the importance of reading books which are a treasure house of information.
The fair was held for two days: January 18 and 19, on the college premises, with the objective of promoting the reading habit among students and motivate them to delve into their pages for enriching their knowledge and to equip them to become better citizens of India.
This will also serve as a platform wherein booksellers are directly invited so that students and staff get an opportunity to interact with the booksellers and get the books they want.
