Ingredients
Vazhaikai (raw plantains) – 2 Toor dhal - 3 spoons Urad dhal - 3 spoons Asafoetida - A small piece Red chilies - 2 Oil - 2 spoons Salt to taste
Method
Cut the raw plantains into two pieces and cook in water. Peel the skin and keep it aside. In a pan, pour oil and fry toor and urad dhal along with the asafoetida and red chilies till they turn golden brown.
Drop the fried items and salt in a mixer and grind coarsely and stop when it becomes powder - podi.
Mash the cooked vazhaikai and mix it with the powder evenly.
Mix it with hot rice and have a totally different experience as vazhaikai podi can be a good substitute for sambar.
