At least seven persons were killed and a number of others injured when a man got behind the wheel of a city bus and crashed it against cars and other vehicles on Pune roads early this morning.
Initial reports said that at least 40 vehicles were crushed. The injured have been admitted to three city hospitals.
The man, whose identity is not known yet, reportedly got behind the wheel of the bus at the Swargate bus depot when the driver was not on his seat. He then began driving rashly in the wrong lane, allegedly hitting several vehicles and pedestrians. He has now been stopped, according to reports .There were no passengers on the bus, which was scheduled to travel from Pune to Satara later in the day. It is not known if the man knew how to drive.
