Puducherry, January 14, Puducherry Municipal Services Private Limited (PMSPL) – India’s first truly Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management Project announced today that it was gearing up to handle the extra waste generated during the festival season of Pongal – Kaanum Pongal Puducherry and Oulgaret Municipalities and the Commune Panchayats of Ariankuppam and Villianur.
PMSPL will be employing 25% more people and also introduce another shift to clear the extra garbage generated during the Pongal celebrations in the city. PMSPL will also deploy 20% more vehicles to clear the bins and keep the city clean. This is to ensure that the beach, parks, roads and streets are kept clean throughout, thus maintaining and assuring a clean and healthy environment to the residents of the urban agglomeration of Puducherry.Speaking on the deployment of more work force and vehicles, Lt. Col. (Retd) CP Prem Vas, COO, PMSPL, said “After Diwali festival, it will be a another challenge for PMSPL to maintain the high standards of the cleanliness that it has initiated during the festival season of Pongal. We also request the cooperation from the people of Puducherry by disposing the waste in the bins kept nearby. PMSPL assures each and every individual that it will continue the efforts even during the festival season by deploying more men and machine and ensure a clean Puducherry at all times”.
